Dogwood Branch – Promise of Spring

Daffodils, crocus and snowdrops are blooming, as well as my hellebore. In anticipation of Spring, I am checking out the buds on the trees. One maple in the neighborhood has huge red buds that seem to be a feast for squirrels. It’s a very active tree. This dogwood branch is still dormant, but full of promise.

This drawing is graphite on Denril, a lovely translucent  drafting film, ideal for all types of media. I love it for graphite.

For this image I used my scanner and Photomerge in Photoshop to stitch together two scans. Amazingly easy!! This is a much better way to capture the white of the paper and the delicate shades of gray of the graphite than with my camera.
